Six of our members (three disabled and three non-disabled) have recently completed the Community Sports Leadership Award Level 1. We have also run 'An Introduction to Adapted Sports' course (led by the London Sports Forum for Disabled People) for all our new volunteers. August 2006

Sport

All our sports activities are fully inclusive enabling all our members to participate. PACE members actively participate in and enjoy a variety of adapted sports and games such as

  • Boccia (a para-olympic sport)
  • Adapted Basketball

  • New-Age Curling

  • Adapted Cricket
  • Polybat
  • Table Cricket
  • Skittles
  • Adapted volleyball
  • Karate
  • Floor Lacrosse
  • Dodgeball
  • Yoga

Trips

Some of the trips we have been on are:

  • Sailing with Sailability for London at Surrey Docks. PACE members had an opportunity to try sailing on adapted boats, it was very much hands-on and they thoroughly enjoyed the day.
  • Boccia Regional Championships at Farnborough Leisure Centre
  • Chickenshed Theatre to watch their Christmas show. Chickenshed are an inclusive theatre company and demonstrates successfully how young disabled and non-disabled people can perform professionally together.
  • Water Sports at Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre. PACE members had opportunities to try canoeing, rowing, sailing and motor boat rides.

Forthcoming Trips
Sailing at Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre; to experience a Narrowboat journey on the Grand Union Canal.

Dance

Jayesh Kumar is a Qualified Bollywood Choreographer who runs our inclusive dance workshops. Recently, some PACE members performed in the Ealing Mela. 

Art

PACE members made some posters, which all depicted positive images of disabled people.

Empowerment Workshops

Disability Equality in Education, a charity providing training, consultancy and resources to develop inclusive education in the UK ran a workshop as to how young disabled people could and should be involved in the decision-making processes affecting their lives.
