Living through Groundhog Day

Published April 2, 2020

If you said to me at the beginning of 2020 that I’d have to ration my EastEnders viewing to twice a week, and that Wrestlemania – WWE’s, the whole wrestling industry’s biggest show of the year – will be aired over two nights with no audience due a global pandemic – I would probably give you a longer than required exasperated look, offer of a cup of tea and watch……..an episode of EastEnders. But, here we are, at the start of April where two of my favourite guilty pleasures, shows that are well into their 1000th episode of viewing are effectively hamstrung by, Covid-19, or […]

Lost Voice Guy Wins BGT: Is It a Big Deal?

Published June 8, 2018

The 10th series of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) show just wrapped up this past weekend. Its winner, Lee Ridley, made history in being not only the first comedian to win this talent show but also the first disabled contestant to win. Primarily Known as the ‘Lost Voice Guy’, Lee Ridley, as you probably guessed by now has no voice, so in his stand-up he uses a voice box which communicates for him. I won’t go into a full breakdown of his stand-up because a) He stole all of my jokes, (at least all of the good ones) b) I’m currently […]

The 2018 Winter Olympics are currently underway in Pyongyang, South Korea. The GB team are hoping for a record number of gold medals, five, to be exact. We all hope the GB team continue the great work from London 2012 and Rio 2016 to continue to break records and have the best ever winter Olympic Games. When I read this story, it got me thinking of how much the cold weather can affect me […]

Make Disabled Parking Great Again!

Published August 31, 2017

I made a promise to myself on how long I could go on and not talk about disabled parking, a topic that many disabled people know and love…. Unfortunately, today’s the day I break my promise. While I was having my usual breakfast of Shreddies cereal watching the news, one particular news story caught my attention. The Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford has announced controversial plans to start charging the use of disabled parking regardless of if they have a disabled badge. The news story had an accompanying interview with Nick Markwick who represented the Surrey coalition of the disabled. […]

The Music Festival Experience

Published June 30, 2017

The Glastonbury Festival takes place this weekend.  It is the biggest festival of the year where the best bands in the world come to play for thousands of people. This year’s line-up promises to be no exception with headliners like the Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran and personally, the one I’m looking forward to the most, Radiohead. With Glastonbury coming up, I thought there would be no better time like the present to talk about a topic very close to me – going and enjoying music concerts as a disabled person. Admittedly, I have never been to Glastonbury before but it’s […]
