PACE are delighted to announce that the SACA Charity Bike Ride 2019 which took place on 20th-21st July chose PACE as one of its beneficiaries this year, raising crucial funds for an accessible mini-bus which PACE members, particularly our Boccia Teams, will be able to use when travelling to competitions. The SACA Charity Bike Ride 2019 from Birmingham to London involved a grueling two day challenge where more than a 100 bikers covered 130 miles. The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up by Sir Jack Petchey CBE to inspire and celebrate young people. Congratulations to PACE B – who have been crowned the champions of the Boccia East league, after winning the competition with 4 out of 6 wins, and a superior points difference to their rivals. PACE B have had a series of challenges to overcome this season, including being moved to another league, significantly increased travel times, the costs incurred for this additional travel, and the uncertainty of playing new opponents in an unfamiliar league. Congratulations to Reshad Saraj, who has finished in 3rd place at the UK Boccia Championships 2019. Hosted at the Forum Sports Centre, in Antrim, Northern Ireland, the UK Boccia Championships was an opportunity for Reshad to add to his medal collection at this level, where he won a silver medal in 2018. The second of three qualifying rounds for the BE Cup Finals and Heathcoat Cup Finals took place on the weekend of 23rd February, at Hertfordshire University. On the weekend of January 26th 2019, PACE athletes, Reshad Saraj and Mitchell Robinson competed in the first of three preliminary rounds of the BE Cup 2019, which took place at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, in Sheffield. PACE Receives Award from Sawyer Fielding Ltd

PACE was delighted to welcome Natasha Lamptey, who on behalf of Sawyer Fielding Ltd, presented us with a very generous donation supporting our work at our recent Annual Awards ceremony. Natasha told us that her Director, Dan Knowles, had asked her to nominate a charity and choosing PACE was a ‘no brainer’ because of the opportunities it provided for some of the most vulnerable members of the community. PACE Young Leaders!!

A group of 10 young members and volunteers have completed the PACE Adapted Sports Leadership Training, equipping them with the skills to adapt activities and make sport accessible.  These volunteers will build on their experience at PACE where they will gain practical experience and support to deliver their own inclusive mini-game. This project was made possible by the Jack Petchey Foundation’s Silver Award scheme, which provided the funding to deliver training and resources. Attendees can also attend two additional follow up sessions, where they will work with PACE coaches to build on their skills. Congratulations to the PACE Young Leaders!

On 22nd April 2018, the PACE A team continued their Boccia Super League Campaign. The super league is a four day competition, featuring the top six teams in the country. The Heathcoat Cup Finals 2018 were held on the weekend of the 21st of April, at the University of Hertfordshire. This year PACE Boccia had a four athletes qualifying for the competition due to their performances in the Heathcoat Cup rounds in February. PACE Boccia fielded four athletes across three classifications. Jamie Keat Competing in the BC3 category, Jamie Keat got off to a strong start by beating Jamie Brown 5-4 and Ashley Wright 6-2, placing him first in his group and qualifying for the semi-finals. PACE Athletes Impress at the Heathcoat and BE Cup Rounds

Congratulations to the PACE athletes that competed at last weekend’s Heathcoat Cup and BE Cup rounds competition, in Hatfield. On Saturday, Alex and Reshad competed in the BC1 and BC2 classifications, earning a bronze and gold medal respectively. This result will gain them a seeding for the next round of the competition, the BE Cup playoffs, on March 25th. In the beginning of February, PACE attended the Heathcoat Cup rounds competition in Hatfield, where they enjoyed tremendous success. PACE brought along three athletes, who all medalled. Two of the athletes, Mitchell Robinson and Ramandeep Mann qualified for the Heathcoat Cup Finals, with respective gold and silver medals. Alex Dukes kicks off 2017 with a silver in the BE Cup Qualifiers

This past weekend marked the start of the competition phase of the Boccia season for PACE. Alex Dukes, our PACE Boccia captain, was the first to compete at the BE cup qualifiers in Guilford. Stretching over one day, Alex played in four very tense Boccia matches. This was a new venue for Alex, playing on a new surface. Reshad Saraj claims gold at the Polska Boccia Open

Congratulations to Reshad Saraj, who has claimed a gold medal within the BC2 classification in Poznan, at the Polska Boccia Open competition. Featuring some of the top athletes from Croatia, England, Germany, Ukraine and Poland, the competition brings together many countries and provides opportunities for athletes to compete internationally. Representing England for the first time, Reshad made light work of the opponents in his group to qualify for the semi finals, beating athletes with a world rankings of 41 and 81 along the way. The 1st4Sport Level 1 Award in Coaching Boccia will give Alex the qualification he needs to assist in the delivery of some PACE sessions. Reshad is called up to represent England at the Polska Boccia International

  Congratulations to Reshad Saraj, who will receive his first England cap playing for the international squad at the Polska Boccia International, in Poznan, Poland. The journey to Poland will begin on the 5th of October, with competition beginning on the 7th and lasting three days. This is fantastic news for Reshad and for PACE, he is the first PACE athlete to compete at international level and hopefully won’t be the last! With it’s racing track, start bell and spectator stands, our runners may have been excused for feeling like they’ve signed up for a main event at the Olympics. Congratulations to Reshad Saraj, who has represented PACE at the GB Championships 2016. Reshad qualified for the competition by going on a 14 game undefeated streak, culminating in a gold medal success at the BE Cup Finals 2016. Ensuring qualification for the highest level competition in the country was always his target, although performing against some of the best athletes in GB is never an easy task. Despite this, Reshad won one of his pool games against Will Hipwell. Following a successful funding bid made to Interactive, PACE were able to deliver 20 boccia sessions during 2015-16 at John Chilton School. John Chilton, based in Northolt, is a school for people with physical disabilities. Some PACE members, including PACE Boccia athletes Alex Dukes and Jagjit Chuk studied at John Chilton in their younger years. Muffy takes on the Ironman 70.3 Challenge!

Congratulations to Alex and Reshad, who have had a successful weekend at the BE Cup Finals, held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield on the 21st-22nd of May 2016. Club Captain, Alex Dukes attended his fourth consecutive BE Cup Finals, with his highest placed finish being second, in 2015. PACE receives the Jack Petchey Crystal Award

PACE are delighted to announce that it has been given a £1,500 award by the Jack Petchey Foundation in recognition of its amazing work with young people. The Crystal Award marks the 15th anniversary of the Jack Petchey Foundation and PACE was one of 150 organisations to receive this Award. Freesport project sees WLC students access boccia

Following the success of the development of boccia in London, PACE will be delivering two ten-week blocks of boccia to two different departments at the West London College. The On Your Marks project was a three-year project run by Ealing Council, aimed to improve participation in physical activity, amongst adults with complex and profound multiple learning difficulties. PACE Boccia athletes selected onto England Talent Pathway

We are delighted to announce that three PACE Boccia athletes have been selected onto the England Talent Pathway (ETP). The ETP is run by Boccia England and includes the England squad, as well as the Lions and Talent squads. Reshad Saraj has been selected for England. He is the first PACE Boccia athlete to achieve this having collected a number of gold, silver and bronze medals at regional level. Janki Dasani wins Jack Petchey Award for April

Congratulations to Janki Dasani, who has been awarded the Jack Petchey award for her commitment to volunteering and supporting the members at PACE. Janki joined PACE as a member in 2005, when she was only 5 years old. Over the last nine years, she has made a fantastic contribution to the club. Janki regularly supports people when they first join PACE.  Her proficiency in sign language has proved invaluable for many of our members, she is a clear communicator and has supported many disabled people to make friends and access our activities.

PACE athlete success at the Boccia England National Finals

Congratulations to the four PACE Boccia athletes that qualified to represent PACE at this year’s Boccia England National Finals. The competition took place on the 25th-26th of April, at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Jagjit Chuk, a BC3 classified veteran of the competition, made his way up to Sheffield with his new boccia ramp, which he has been working hard to fundraise for.
