PACE Young Leaders!!

A group of 10 young members and volunteers have completed the PACE Adapted Sports Leadership Training, equipping them with the skills to adapt activities and make sport accessible.  These volunteers will build on their experience at PACE where they will gain practical experience and support to deliver their own inclusive mini-game. This project was made possible by the Jack Petchey Foundation’s Silver Award scheme, which provided the funding to deliver training and resources. Attendees can also attend two additional follow up sessions, where they will work with PACE coaches to build on their skills. Congratulations to the PACE Young Leaders!

On the 19th to the 20th May the EIS hosted the peak of Boccia competition in England, the BE Cup finals. While most of England were keenly observing a royal wedding, the boccia athletes that had gained qualified through their regional competitions were battling it out for the BE Cup trophy, and  and the title of BE Cup Champion. Superleague Day 3 review

On 22nd April 2018, the PACE A team continued their Boccia Super League Campaign. The super league is a four day competition, featuring the top six teams in the country. Currently, PACE A are in the relegation zone and are amongst the favourites to go down. The standard of play in the league is exceptionally high and PACE A have not picked up many wins in their debut Superleague season so far. Heathcoat Cup Finals 2018 review

The Heathcoat Cup Finals 2018 were held on the weekend of the 21st of April, at the University of Hertfordshire. This year PACE Boccia had a four athletes qualifying for the competition due to their performances in the Heathcoat Cup rounds in February. PACE Boccia fielded four athletes across three classifications. Jamie Keat Competing in the BC3 category, Jamie Keat got off to a strong start by beating Jamie Brown 5-4 and Ashley Wright 6-2, placing him first in his group and qualifying for the semi-finals. Alex Dukes completes Boccia Level 2 Coaching Award

Congratulations to Alex Dukes, who has completed his accredited level 2 coaching qualification in boccia. This qualification will provide Alex with knowledge of the technical principles and the processes within boccia, to deliver his own, high-level, progressive and structured block of boccia sessions. PACE Athletes Impress at the Heathcoat and BE Cup Rounds

Congratulations to the PACE athletes that competed at last weekend’s Heathcoat Cup and BE Cup rounds competition, in Hatfield. On Saturday, Alex and Reshad competed in the BC1 and BC2 classifications, earning a bronze and gold medal respectively. This result will gain them a seeding for the next round of the competition, the BE Cup playoffs, on March 25th. The Sunday competition featured Mitchell, Aiden, Ramandeep, Savraj, Jamie and Anton, competing across four classifications. PACE Boccia develops new satellite club at Clifton Primary School

We are delighted to announce an extension of PACE Boccia, with the development of a new satellite club at Clifton Primary School, in Southall. The satellite club will provide progressive and structured coaching to a select group of students from the primary school. In September, Alex and Sunil were invited to take part in a promotional film highlighting Alex’s work for PACE during his internship, as part of the “Time to Shine” programme. Funded by The Rank Foundation and the Jack Petchey Foundation, the Time to Shine internship was set up in 2008 following the negative impact the recession was having on charities. Congratulations to Mitchell Robinson, who has recently  received a promotion to the PACE A boccia team. As a member of the PACE Boccia squad for 2 years, Mitchell has represented PACE at B-team level and was one of the standout performers for the B team over the 2016-17 campaign. The 2017 Boccia season is under way and PACE A made history by making their debut in the Super League. The Super League teams earn their places through promotion from the National League, which PACE are the current champions of having sealed the title in July. PACE are offering a FREE MCD taster session at your day centre or organisation, to take place between the 31st July and the 18th of August. Allow your service users to experience the physical, social and emotional benefits of sport! All activities are adapted and inclusive to ensure active participation from all members. In the beginning of February, PACE attended the Heathcoat Cup rounds competition in Hatfield, where they enjoyed tremendous success. PACE brought along three athletes, who all medalled. Two of the athletes, Mitchell Robinson and Ramandeep Mann qualified for the Heathcoat Cup Finals, with respective gold and silver medals. Alex Dukes kicks off 2017 with a silver in the BE Cup Qualifiers

This past weekend marked the start of the competition phase of the Boccia season for PACE. Alex Dukes, our PACE Boccia captain, was the first to compete at the BE cup qualifiers in Guilford. Congratulations to Reshad Saraj, who has claimed a gold medal within the BC2 classification in Poznan, at the Polska Boccia Open competition. GB Championships 2016

Congratulations to Reshad Saraj, who has represented PACE at the GB Championships 2016. Reshad qualified for the competition by going on a 14 game undefeated streak, culminating in a gold medal success at the BE Cup Finals 2016. Ensuring qualification for the highest level competition in the country was always his target, although performing against some of the best athletes in GB is never an easy task. Despite this, Reshad won one of his pool games against Will Hipwell. PACE Boccia develops a satellite club in partnership with John Chilton School

Following a successful funding bid made to Interactive, PACE were able to deliver 20 boccia sessions during 2015-16 at John Chilton School. John Chilton, based in Northolt, is a school for people with physical disabilities. Some PACE members, including PACE Boccia athletes Alex Dukes and Jagjit Chuk studied at John Chilton in their younger years. Muffy takes on the Ironman 70.3 Challenge!

On June 12th, in Staffordshire, one of the PACE coaches will be taking on the Ironman 70.3 challenge, to raise money for PACE and Rotary Charity Fundraisers. Mufaddal Trunkwala, better known at PACE as Muffy, has been working with PACE as a coach from the start of 2016. Congratulations to Alex and Reshad, who have had a successful weekend at the BE Cup Finals, held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield on the 21st-22nd of May 2016. Club Captain, Alex Dukes attended his fourth consecutive BE Cup Finals, with his highest placed finish being second, in 2015. Whilst the 2016 Finals features the top ten BC1 athletes in the country, competing in the BC1 classification has never been easy. PACE receives the Jack Petchey Crystal Award

PACE are delighted to announce that it has been given a £1,500 award by the Jack Petchey Foundation in recognition of its amazing work with young people. The Crystal Award marks the 15th anniversary of the Jack Petchey Foundation and PACE was one of 150 organisations to receive this Award. The Crystal Award will be used to extend PACE delivery further into the community, giving more young people an opportunity to experience a paralympic sport. Freesport project sees WLC students access boccia

Following the success of the development of boccia in London, PACE will be delivering two ten-week blocks of boccia to two different departments at the West London College. The ten-week programmes are designed to provide learners with an insight into the rules, techniques and basic tactics of the game and concludes with a mini-tournament. Learners that may be identified as potential future boccia leaders or athletes, will be signposted to PACE Boccia, where they can continue their development. PACE develops satellite boccia club at John Chilton School

Following the success of our athletes at PACE Boccia, the strengthening of our coaching workforce and the increasing demand for inclusive and accessible sporting activities, PACE have been successfully awarded funding from Interactive to develop a “Satellite Club” at the John Chilton School, in Northolt. PACE continues the delivery of the On Your Marks project

PACE are delighted to announce that they will be continuing the delivery of the On Your Mark project, at Gurnell Leisure centre and Northolt Leisure centre. The On Your Marks project was a three-year project run by Ealing Council, aimed to improve participation in physical activity, amongst adults with complex and profound multiple learning difficulties. Following the end of the project funding and the success of the project, PACE has agreed to work alongside Northolt Leisure centre (run by Everybody Active) and Gurnell Leisure Centre (run by GLL) to continue the delivery of the project. PACE athletes aim for BE Cup success

Four athletes will be representing PACE at the BE Cup – Guildford on Sunday December 6th. Alex, Reshad, Jamie and Jagjit will be hoping for a performance and medal success at their first competition of the season. Success in this competition will allow our athletes to qualify for the BE Cup playoffs, which will take place in January. The full schedule of play can be found here. PACE Boccia athletes selected onto England Talent Pathway

We are delighted to announce that three PACE Boccia athletes have been selected onto the England Talent Pathway (ETP). The ETP is run by Boccia England and includes the England squad, as well as the Lions and Talent squads. Reshad Saraj has been selected for England. He is the first PACE Boccia athlete to achieve this having collected a number of gold, silver and bronze medals at regional level. Reshad’s breakthrough season was in 2014 where he finished 2nd in the nationals after loosing 5-3 in a thrilling final with Paralympic Gold Medallist, Dan Bentley. Following their success in winning the London league, the PACE Boccia A team were rewarded with qualification into the National League Finals, where the top teams from different regions across the country compete for the crown of National League Champions. Often, only athletes with complex physical conditions will receive a classification to compete at regional, national or international level. The national boccia league is a pan-disability competition, meaning that athletes with any form of physical or learning difficulty can participate. Janki Dasani wins Jack Petchey Award for April

Congratulations to Janki Dasani, who has been awarded the Jack Petchey award for her commitment to volunteering and supporting the members at PACE. Janki joined PACE as a member in 2005, when she was only 5 years old. Over the last nine years, she has made a fantastic contribution to the club. Janki regularly supports people when they first join PACE.  Her proficiency in sign language has proved invaluable for many of our members, she is a clear communicator and has supported many disabled people to make friends and access our activities.

PACE athlete success at the Boccia England National Finals

Congratulations to the four PACE Boccia athletes that qualified to represent PACE at this year’s Boccia England National Finals. The competition took place on the 25th-26th of April, at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Jagjit Chuk, a BC3 classified veteran of the competition, made his way up to Sheffield with his new boccia ramp, which he has been working hard to fundraise for. Regional Boccia Success

On Saturday the 17th of January 2015, four PACE Boccia athletes,  Alex, Reshad, Ramandeep and Jagjit, attended the South East Regional Championships, held in Surrey. This was the largest South East Regionals that PACE athletes have competed in, with a group stage format, followed by knockout stages. Ramandeep had a tough group, with former paralympic gold medallist, Dan Bentley, the biggest name in her group. She played some accurate boccia, placing her balls on the Jack on numerous occasions. He will unfortunately be leaving his role as England Lions BC4 coach and will now be working closely with the international squad. Seven brave volunteers bungee jumping for PACE

On December 14th 2014, Daveshee, Darvesh, Jyoti, Harj, Deepak, Bharti and Anil will be bungee jumping 160 feet off Middlesborough bridge, all to raise money for PACE. The pace4PACE 4km Fun Run took place on Saturday 6th of September, at 12.00pm, in Southall Park. A record number of runners registered to take part in the run, raising the profile of the club and generating much-needed funds for PACE. Farah and Nala win Jack Petchey Achievement Awards

The Jack Petchey Award Winner for March was Farah, who won her award for the dedication and commitment she has put into PACE, supporting vulnerable people to participate in multi-sport and leisure activities. Farah has decided to take the PACE group to the Urban Farm, in Hounslow. June’s award winner was Nala, who is a kind, gentle and considerate member of our club. She has won the award for her desire to improve, take part and challenge herself at each session. Nala has decided to take the group on a bowling trip, in Park Royal. GB Boccia Championships Review

The Great British Boccia Championships took place on the 8th and 9th of May 2014 at the Robin Park Arena, Wigan. Having qualified from the National Finals, Alex (BC1 Bronze) and Reshad (BC2 Silver) travelled up to Wigan to represent PACE. Daveshee, Darvesh and Deepak skydive for PACE

For many people, Easter weekend is about spending time with the family, relaxing and enjoying a break from work. The same cannot be said for three PACE volunteers, Daveshee, Darvesh and Deepak. Instead of following the trend and tucking into a chocolate egg, they decided to raise money for PACE by travelling to Peterborough and completing an extreme challenge, skydiving from a height of 13,000 feet. This competition features the top players from around the county, all competing for the title of National Champion. The PACE A and PACE B have both completed their home and away fixtures against The Brimsdown Gotchas. PACE A fielded a strong starting line up, with three athletes, Alex, Reshad and Jagjit, on the England Talent Pathway. Both matches were incredibly close, with the first one finishing 6-5 to PACE.
