Alex Dukes selected to be part of the England Lions Squad

Published October 17, 2013

Congratulations to Alex Dukes, who has been selected to be part of the Boccia England Lions Squad this season.

Alex becomes the fourth PACE Boccia athlete to be placed on the England Talent Pathway (ETP) and is the first PACE Boccia athlete to be selected for the England Lions squad.

This means that Alex is eligible for selection to international boccia competitions this season, something he really hopes to achieve.

Last season, Alex finished third in the London Regionals, qualifying for the National Finals, in Sheffield.

He qualified from his group at the Nationals and made it to the Semi Finals of the competition, eventually finishing in 4th place.

This led to Alex being selected to attend the GB Championships, where he had the opportunity to play against the top athletes in Great Britain.

Alex’s ability, composure and understanding of the game lead him to 6th place in the competition.

It’s important to note that Alex has achieved all of this whilst studying for degree and developing his coaching skills. He is a graduate of the National Young Coaches Academy and has also been working closely with Sunil, as a coaching assistant.

When asked about how he felt, Alex said…

I’m really pleased to be selected for the England Lions Squad. I hope I can continue to improve and do well. Thank you to PACE for believing in me and helping me to realise my potential.

Well done Alex!
