Sunil Birdy wins National Boccia Participation Coach of the Year

Published October 15, 2014

Congratulations to Sunil Birdy, who has been awarded National Boccia Participation Coach of the Year 2014.

The award was presented at the Boccia England Coaching Conference 2014, held in Sheffield.

Sunil has overseen the development of PACE Boccia, where athletes have claimed 2 Golds, 7 Silvers and 3 Bronze medals at Regional level. 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals at National Level, as well as 1 Silver Medal at the GB Championships. His success with the PACE Boccia squad has also resulted in him developing his skills and coaching with the England Lions Squad, in the BC4 classification.

In addition to PACE Boccia, Sunil has been developing boccia in London at day centres, schools and organisations. The two PACE Boccia teams he coaches finished last season in 2nd and 3rd place in the National Boccia League – London.

When asked about his achievement, Sunil said…

This has to be the highlight of my year. I’m delighted to be amongst the first winners of this award and am privileged to work with such a committed group of athletes. I’d like to thank Krishna Birdy and Matt Kendrick for always supporting my development over the years, as well as Andrea Zemenides for the support she has offered myself and PACE Boccia.
