“An Introduction to Henna”

We are joined by Kavita Verma, a professional henna artist from West London and founder of K V Mehndi. You may recognise Kavita from her fantastic fundraising efforts over the years, and from the time she volunteers, providing henna and face painting at the Hanwell Carnival.

Kavita will be delivering a 4-week programme for our members, going through some of the basic elements of henna pattern, shape and design.

Week 1 – Henna inspired bookmarks

Resources required;

-A4 paper/card or a notebook
-Pen/pencil
-Colouring pencils/felt tips
-A piece of string or thread
-Ruler

Week 2 – Mandala patterns

Resources required;

-A4 paper/card or a notebook
-Pen/pencil
-Colouring pencils/felt tips
-A piece of string or thread
-Ruler

Week 3 – Henna name board

Resources required;

-An piece of clothing or an item that has a pattern that you like
-A4 paper/card or a notebook
-Pen/pencil
-Colouring pencils/felt tips
-A piece of string or thread
-Ruler

Week 4 – Using henna designs to decorate

– Small bowl
– Scissors
– Paint/felt tips/colours
– A4 piece of card
