PACE Head Coach Sunil selected as a Finalist for the category Community Coach of the Year by UK Coaching Awards

Published November 11, 2016

PACE is delighted to announce that our Head Coach, Sunil Birdy, has been selected as a Finalist for the Community Coach of the Year category by UK Coaching Awards. The UK Coaching Awards, now in its 19th year, celebrates excellent coaching at all levels across the UK and for our Head Coach to be shortlisted is an absolute honour for us as a club.

Sunil has continually demonstrated his dedication and commitment to bringing out the best in all his athletes, infusing his coaching style into the core structure of PACE. His successful coaching strategies have led to increased demand for adapted sports programmes, particularly the delivery of Boccia, by schools, colleges, disability organisations and corporate organisations in Ealing and across London.

Just last month, one of his athletes who he has been coaching providing in-depth structured training programmes, competed in his first International Boccia Championship in Poland and came home with a Gold Medal.

Through Boccia England, Sunil has set up the Hawks Academy in Hertfordshire, providing opportunities for fifteen boccia athletes on the cusp of the England Squad to access high quality training and coaching sessions eight times a year. In addition, he has developed a Satellite Boccia Club in a local special school, increasing participation in Boccia and providing opportunities for new talent to be nurtured.

Sunil has always ensured his athletes are challenged and have opportunities to fulfil their goals, whether working at grassroots level or international level.

We wish him all the best, well done Sunil!
The Awards will be hosted at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Wembley on 29 November 2016. To find out more, please click here.
