  • PACE shortlisted for the Club of the Year Award
  • Sunil Birdy shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award
  • Reshad Saraj shortlisted for the Adult Sports Person of the Year Award
  • Alex Dukes shortlisted for the Adult Volunteer of the Year Award

Ealing Sports Awards are aimed at recognising the talents and achievements of Ealing’s multitude of sports clubs, inspirational volunteers and fantastic sporting individuals. The awards  started in 2017 and are sponsored by Everyone Active.

After receiving his nomination, PACE Head Coach, Sunil Birdy, said:

Keeping people active is not always easy, with so many barriers to exercise which have only grown over the last two years. As we all know, the physical and emotional benefits of sport cannot be understated, and receiving this nomination is wonderful recognition for the efforts that have gone in to ensuring our members keep their bodies moving. I’m extremely grateful and honoured to have received the individual nomination, and delighted for PACE who have also been nominated in two separate categories. This goes to show the tremendous input and effort that has been made by our fantastic network of team leaders and volunteers, who have made it all possible. Whether it’s by supporting our new online services, leading social and physical activity classes, fundraising through the pandemic, or creating and delivering bespoke programmes of physical activity for our members, their relentless energy and unwillingness to give up has contributed massively to this achievement, as well as helping to keep the local community active.

On hearing the news of his nomination, Alex Dukes, said:

I’m extremely grateful for this nomination and the recognition that comes with it. I’m really proud of the work we have all done at PACE particularly these last couple of years, adapting to real world challenges, creating online multiple sessions for our members to socialize and talk about issues that matter to them. It has been great to see the sessions continue to grow into 2022 and add these sessions to my coaching commitments. It is a huge honour just to be nominated so thank you to PACE and Ealing Sports Awards.

This is not the first time PACE has enjoyed great success at the Ealing Sports Awards. In 2018, PACE Team Leader, Saad Ahmad, won the Adult Volunteer of the Year Award.

These nominations are a testament and confirmation of the amazing hard work and dedication of all PACE Team Leaders and volunteers, especially considering the challenges faced these last two years. Congratulations to all the nominees!
