PACE Head Coach nominated for BEDSA

Published March 14, 2015

We are delighted to announce that in February, Sunil was nominated to receive the Coach of the Year award, at the British Ethnic Diversity in Sport Awards, held in Coventry.

The British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA) are the first of an annual ceremony rewarding excellence among black and minority ethnic  (BME) sports men and women, help to increase sports participation by all communities and show how BME people can lead a healthier lifestyle.

Fellow nominees in the Coach of the Year category include Chris Powell, ex-England international footballer and manager of Huddersfield Town, and Paula Dunn, Head Coach of GB Paralympic Athletics.

Receiving this nomination for this prestigious award is a fantastic achievement for Sunil and PACE, who are active in promoting and increasing participation for people from BME backgrounds in sport and physical activity.

On the night, the award went to Chris Powell, who is one of the highest rating black football managers in the country.

After the awards, Sunil said…

It’s a real honour to be nominated for this award alongside Chris and Paula. Of course, I’m disappointed not to win but with all his achievements in his life, Chris is a deserving winner of the BEDSA. Thank you to everybody who took the time to vote for me and to PACE, who has given me the opportunity to develop my skills.
