PACE Athlete, Reshad, Joins the Boccia UK Transition Squad

Published June 27, 2023

The Boccia UK Transition Squad consists of highly successful, hand-picked athletes from each Boccia classification, who have been identified by Boccia GB coaches as candidates having potential to transition to Team GB in the foreseeable future. PACE is delighted to announce that one of its athletes, Reshad Saraj, has been selected to take part in this Boccia UK’s brand new, exciting initiative.

Reshad will get to train with the GB team multiple times a year and enter international competitions, all designed to help him take a big step up in their development. He is understandably buoyed and energized by the prospect of working with new athletes, again learning from the coaches and his comrades to continually improve.

Commenting on this opportunity, Reshad said,

“I want to be an open athlete, I want to become a sponge and soak up their ideas and try them. Not every idea will work. If it doesn’t, we can go back and maybe implement a different approach, or maybe just tweak it slightly until it’s beneficial for everyone. I really can’t wait to get started and keep learning”.

Reshad’s next big competition is in just a few weeks, on July 16th, in Nottingham with the PACE A team, hoping to finish off a great Super League campaign with a strong performance. Reflecting on the season with the team, and in general, Reshad was very humble and appreciative of the opportunities that are before him,

I’m forever thankful for the endless amount of support I get from PACE: my fellow teammates, who enable me to just play my game. To Krishna and Sunil, they have given their endless support and dedication, throughout my whole time at PACE, always sticking by me through the highs and lows. And lastly, to my Mum, who, is without doubt my biggest supporter in everything I do. She inspires me to try and be the best I can be. I just can’t wait to get started “

Wishing you all the best Reshad in this next phase of your journey to the top!
