PACE Boccia Athlete Wins Bronze at GB Boccia Championships

Published November 25, 2022

The GB Boccia Championships, the most prestigious and toughest competition in the Boccia season took place in October in Swansea hosted by Disability Sport Wales.

To qualify for the GB Boccia Championships, a boccia athlete must either medal at the regional competition of his/her home nation (e.g The BE Cup) or be a ranked international athlete.

Having clinched his first International medal in Poznan and gaining a world boccia ranking, being placed 30th, PACE Boccia athlete, Reshad Saraj, secured a place at the GB Boccia Championships.

Reshad topped the group stages, winning two out of three matches and the superior points difference. The semi-final was a fantastic spectacle. Losing by a single point, 5-4, to Kayleigh Haggo, who would go on to make history and contest the gold medal with Clare Taggart, an incredibly experienced athlete in an all-female final, a first for the GB Championships.

While disappointed to miss out on the opportunity to win the gold medal, Reshad dusted himself down, however, and comfortably secured the bronze with a 7-1 victory.

Congratulations to Reshad on his success at the GB Boccia Championships.
