Reshad Receives Adult Sports Person of the Year Award

Published July 29, 2022

PACE is thrilled to announce that its Team Leader and Boccia athlete, Reshad Saraj,  won the Adult Sports Person of the Year Award 2022 at the Ealing Sports Awards ceremony held last Tuesday at William Perkin C of E School in Greenford.

Reshad was up against some stiff competition in his category from sports such as sailing, netball and boxing, all popular sports receiving many awards on the night. However, Reshad overcame the odds – a common theme in Reshad’s sporting career – and he was certainly a well deserved winner of this Award.

“Reshad had been with PACE for 13 years and developed a passion for the sport of Boccia, he quickly developed his skills playing for the PACE team, taking part in competitions at regional and national level. Reshad’s commitment to training and learning has this summer, taken him to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, representing Great Britain, at the Boccia World Championships. Reshad is an inspiration and an excellent role model, having slowly overcome many personal challenges, he has not only progressed in Boccia, but his personal development has been outstanding. He joined PACE as a member, then soon after became a volunteer at PACE, where he supports with delivering sessions not just at the club but in the community. Reshad’s experiences through PACE have led to him growing in confidence and becoming more independent.”

– Krishna Birdy wrote when putting forward Reshad’s nomination to Ealing.

Including Reshad’s win PACE had a total of 5 nominations, including Club of the Year. It just goes to show the great breadth of talent and experience we have here at PACE and it has been a fantastic year full of achievements that should be celebrated.

A big congratulations to everyone who was nominated and a special congratulations to Reshad again on becoming Ealing’s Adult Sports Person of the Year 2022!
